That's the entire run-up. No months of planning, no checklist. One evening of testing everything at home, and the next morning we left Rosenheim for Munich with the whole rig in the car.",[10,14,15],{},"I've written before about this installation and its talent for not working. So a day of notice for its first real event felt less like a plan and more like a dare. I said yes anyway. Half-finished stages, people carrying things, that specific pre-event energy where everyone's a little tired and a little excited at the same time. I chatted, helped where I could, and just felt the place out for a while. Someone had decorated with fruit, which I found genuinely cool. It was all just really nice.",[10,25,26],{},"The main lamp went into the tree. That was the plan, and for once the plan worked: the tree gave it height and something organic to live in, and the housing looked like it had grown there. The two support lamps were a different story. They didn't work. Not \"needed a fix\" didn't work, just dead. So the setup shrank from three lamps to one before the first beat, which is the kind of ratio this project has always liked.",[17,28,30],{"id":29},"the-laptop-or-my-tour-of-half-of-munich","The laptop, or my tour of half of Munich",[10,32,33],{},"Then I realised my laptop wasn't there. The one thing the whole installation gets programmed from. So I drove through half of Munich to get it, which is exactly the errand you want on the day of an event, in event-day traffic, with the clock running.",[10,35,36],{},"By the time I got back, things had already started. People were there, music was on, it was properly going. And I still had code to write, because the motors had disconnected at some point, and the disconnect froze the setup script completely. So while everyone around me was starting to celebrate, I sat there recoding the thing live, last minute, party on all sides.",[10,38,39],{},"The quick fix: strip it down, work around the motors, get the light running. It worked. The motors stayed off for the night, which hurt a little, but a breathing lamp in a tree beats a frozen script every time. While I was in there I made everything a bit faster too, because event energy eats slow animations. The positioning ended up a bit small for the space. Fair enough, the setup was originally sized for a legal open-air, not for this. Everyone was celebrating, and I kept catching myself doing the same loop all night: look at the lamps, look at my friends, feel great about both, repeat. There's something about seeing a thing you built glowing over a crowd of people you love that no test run at home can give you.",[10,60,61],{},"And this is where Lieberscholli's format turned out to be perfect. Half outdoor, half indoor. Outside, the main lamp lived in its tree while it was warm and loud under open sky. When the outdoor part ended and everything moved inside, I didn't pack up. I put the lamps on the DJ deck instead. Watching them breathe up there, slow pulses right next to the decks, was honestly cute. Same installation, completely different character: a creature in a tree outside, a small glowing companion for the DJ inside. A venue that's only one or the other could never have given it both lives in one night.",[17,63,65],{"id":64},"the-morning-after","The morning after",[10,67,68],{},"Teardown was the next day, which tells you roughly how the night went. Twenty-four hours of partying is very long, and I'd been coding through part of it, and it was completely worth it.",[10,70,71],{},"The support lamps need a proper autopsy, the motor connection needs to survive more than a test run, and the sizing needs a version for bigger spaces. But the installation has now done what it was built for: one full night, real people, real music, a tree. Twenty-four hours.
